Ons sluit nou die oorsigtelike lering oor die vyfvoudige bediening in hierdie Manna af.
In sy boek: Houses that changed the world het Wolfgang Simson die volgende tese gestel: “In the Christian world we have all the right pieces, but we have fitted them together in the wrong way, because of fear, tradition, religious jealousy and a power-and-control mentality. Just as water is found in three forms – ice, water and steam – so too the five ministries mentioned in Ephesians 4:11, 12 – the apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers and evangelists – are found today, but not always in the right forms and in the right places. They are often frozen to ice in the rigid system of institutionalized Christianity; they sometimes exist as clear water; or they have fanished like steam into the thin air of free-flying ministries and ‘independent’ churches, accountable to no one … (T)hese five equipping ministries will have to be transformed back into new … forms, so that the whole spiritual organism can flourish and the individual ‘ministers’ can find their proper role and place in the whole.”
Die Skrif uit Jesaja hierbo stel dit in Engels minder digterlik, maar ook besonder raak: “the new wine is in the cluster”. Die Laaste Reformasie, sê Simson tereg, is grotendeels ‘n reformasie van struktuur. Die vyfvoudige bediening is ‘n Liggaamsmodel van bediening, ‘n korporatiewe multiplicity of ministry. Erwin McManus het in sy The End of Religion dit soos volg gestel: “Two thousand years ago God started a revolt against the religion He started. So don’t ever put it past God to cause a groundswell movement against churches and Christian institutions that bear His name. If He was willing to turn Judaism upside down, don’t think for a moment our institutions are safe from a divine revolt. I am convinced that even now there are multitudes of followers of Jesus Christ who are sick and tired of the church playing games and playing down the call of God. The murmurings of revolution are everywhere. I am convinced that there is an uprising in the works and that no one less than God is behind it.”
Begin deel word van hierdie laaste Reformasie en maak vas waarvoor roep God jou nou in die vyfvoudige bediening? Is dit as herder? Pas dan Sy skape op. Is dit as evangelis of prediker? Verkondig dan die Woord tydig en ontydig. Is dit as leraar? Leer dan die dinge aangaande die Here noukeurig aan ander. Is dit as profeet? Laat jou woorde dan wees soos woorde van God. Is dit as apostel? Word dan ‘n meesterbouer that “hold the other ministry gifts together for a common purpose”.
