Day 15

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” (Is 30:21, NKJ)

In John 14:6 Christ calls Himself the Way, the Truth and the Life. The path that you have chosen to walk with God is called the Way. His Name is Jesus. John the Baptist called out: “Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight!” The book of Acts is largely about the acts of those who chose to walk on this Way and those who chose not to. Thus the early Christians were called the people “who were of the Way” (9:2). All believers needed to be “instructed in the way of the Lord” (18:25 & 26). Non-believers sometimes have good knowledge of the Way (24:22), but if they don’t walk on it, then it hardens them (19:9); it causes commotion (19:23); it causes people to speak evil of it (19:9); it becomes persecuted (22:4); and it is called a sect (24:14). The Way always brings you to action – you can never be neutral once confronted with it (see Matt 12:30).

It is this Way that Saul arrived at after he had persecuted it as a zealous religious man. Thus, it is all the more beautiful that – after the scales had fallen from his eyes – he found himself at Straight street (Acts 9:11)!

In the New Jerusalem, in spite of her enormous size, there will only be one street (Rev 21:21) – its name is Jesus. After your rebirth you begin to walk on this path of “pure gold, like transparent glass”. In Scripture gold is always the symbol of revelation (more on this later). Come and buy gold from Him (Rev 3:18) so that you can walk with Him.

Religiosity is “a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov 14:12). Only Christ, as the “new and living way” (Heb 10:20), places you on the pathWay to Truth and Life. Thus, as Heb 12:13 so beautifully states: “make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed”. Come…come to Straight Street.

  • Sela: Pray about Ps 15 and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what in your life still needs to be straightened and healed.
  • Read: Gen 15; Ps 15; John 15
  • Memorise: Gen 15: 6; John 15:7 & 16.
