“… they will try to join with one another. But they will not stay together …”
(Dan. 2:43, NLV)
It is absolutely remarkable that the great kingdoms who would succeed one another in history are described by the prophet Daniel in immaculate detail. We are currently examining the intricate image that king Nebuchadnezzar saw in a dream, discussing the fifth and last part of the image, namely “its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay” (Dan. 2:33). In the previous teaching we pointed out that this divided kingdom of ten groupings is known, in overarching terms, as Europe. The symbolism of the iron and the clay points to a mixing of civil power and Christian reign. Through the image that king Nebuchadnezzar saw, God already spelled out for us how He can ground the Christian faith within civil reign, but it would alas not be as pure, but contain contamination.
In the last teaching we also explained that the conspiracy theories of the past two hundred years, warning of a central world government under the Antichrist, has largely not been realised at all. [In a number of earlier teachings we explained in detail that the Antichrist is not just one person – read the teachings of Day 853, 854, 1453 and 1454 again.] Despite that over the ages secular mysteries have been woven around these false expectations, which has in turn created much fear, these religious, political, financial and social predictions have not happened. Again and again time has shown that these conspiracy theories are absolutely unnecessary, and has robbed a lot of time and energy that could have been invested in God’s true revelation of the times. In the last two hundred years alone the world has seen various wars, including two world wars, depressions, the rise and fall of communism, and still we are looking for candidates who can now finally fit the profile of the antichrist. Christendom has been made a fool by constantly anticipating the coming of the physical mark of the beast.
The truth is – the world is not uniting; the world is slowly fragmenting. This last human kingdom of the feet of iron and clay is fragmented – “they will try to join with one another. But they will not stay together …” (Dan. 2:43, NLV). Through the ages there have been many attempts to unite these ten toes of the image Nebuchadnezzar dreamt about – Genghis Khan, Charlemagne, Napoleon, Buffalo Bill (Wilhelm III), Louis XIV, Napoleon, Hitler, the Communists, Isis, you name it. Every attempt in the past has been thwarted by God, and every attempt at this in the future will likewise bear no fruit.
Alas the church enthusiastically takes part in this sensational incitement, without knowing what the true apocalypse is.
- Selah: By now you should know what the true apocalypse is.
- Read: Mark 12-14
- Memorise: Mark 12:27
