“…On earth as it is in heaven …”
(Matt. 6:10, AOV)
A characteristic of this fifth kingdom in which we currently find ourselves is, according to Dan. 2:43 (KJV), that the iron and clay “shall mingle themselves with the seed of men”. Both groups, both the civilian and the spiritual, the heritage of the iron-hard Roman law and the soft clay of Christian civilisation, will be infected by the seed of man, and thus pollute themselves. The gospel is thus mixed with “fleshly wisdom” (2 Cor. 1:12) to the point of no longer being usable, this “fleshly wisdom” consisting of human thoughts, philosophies and beliefs. Therefore Paul pertinently makes this distinction in 1 Cor. 2:13: “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” Know this: the main reason God sent His Son to earth was to establish His kingdom ON EARTH. His overarching goal and blueprint is that His kingdom will bring all the kingdoms of the earth to an end, and that the entire world will experience “… salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ” (Rev. 12:10). Where will His perfect will take place? It’s simple: “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt. 6:10). You should no longer allow any other human theory or perception in your framework of thought.
Earlier we had a closer look at the concepts kingdom of God and kingdom of the heavens (have a look at the teachings of Day 1533-1543). We thus hope that readers of these teachings have by now moved beyond a mixed fleshly way of thinking and arguing about the kingdom of God. There are so many false ideas, interpretations, visions, and experiences that believers use to think about and constitute the kingdom, but none of this correspond to what Scripture teaches about it. The main reason for this is that Jesus himself, in his explanation of what the kingdom of God is, did so through recourse to parables. And because these stories are open texts that often cannot be symbolically interpreted in just one way, it points out an immense number of facets of what and where the kingdom of God is, how it functions, and what we need to do to see the kingdom, and be allowed to enter it. Alas many of these interpretations are based on human experiences or ideas, or so-called mystic experiences. It misleads many people who truly are engaging in a deeper search for God and his kingdom, and they are misled by these deceptive spirits (1 Tim. 4:1).
In short – the kingdom of God is the reign of God – a kingdom is ruled by a king. Jesus explained that the revelation of the rule of God will be made manifest in the hearts and lives of believers, in and through people, across the entire earth and over the entire universe. He must firstly reign in our lives. The Kingdom of God is God in Christ who reigns over the complete creation of God, this is the “new heavens and a new earth” (2 Pet. 3:13), or: a new spiritual order and a new human species on earth, filled with glory, in which the fullness of God lives.
