“Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations;
they set up their ensigns for signs.”
(Ps. 74:4, KJV)
We are currently on an interesting detour, studying the symbolic meaning of animals in Scripture. The teachings of the last two groups of Manna were largely devoted to a testimony in which various strange animal-like species are found in the spiritual realm. In the Bible we find “a list of creatures, the greater part of which are matter-of-fact animals or birds … all these creatures are looked upon as more or less demonic” (International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia). With this as our point of departure we specifically focused on the vampire and the werewolf, and considered this within the context of a series of strange events that played out in 2004. We concluded with 1Cor. 15:32 (KJV) where Paul notes “If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus …”
What then are these “beasts” that believers are fighting against? Isa. 34:13-14 describes them as follows in the Douay-Rheims Bible of 1899: “And thorns and nettles shall grow up in its houses, and the thistle in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be the habitation of dragons, and the pasture of ostriches. And demons and monsters shall meet, and the hairy ones shall cry out one to another, there hath the lamia lain down, and found rest for herself.”
Clearly there are all kinds of demonic manifestations that have a real presence in our daily lives, even if we cannot always physically see them. It is interesting, for instance, that we find a number of references to night wolves (Jer. 5:6; Hab. 1:8; Zeph. 3:3). Note the symbolic inference of Ezek. 22:27 (DBY) – “Her princes in the midst of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.”
Although there are arguments against this, the respected Easton argues in his Bible Dictionary that “Nebuchadnezzar was afflicted with some peculiar mental aberration as a punishment for his pride and vanity, probably the form of madness known as lycanthropy (i.e., the change of a man into a wolf)”, which is to say, a werewolf. In other parts of the Bible we find references to the following demons: “Rahab” (Job 9:13; Job 26:12; Isa. 51:9), “Tanin” (Isa. 27:1), “Leviathan” (Job 3:8, Ps. 74:14, Isa. 27:1, Ezek. 29:3), in Job 41 the “serpent in the sea,” also found in Amos 9:3; “Seirim” (2Chr. 11:15, Lev. 17:7, 2Kings 23:8, Isa. 13:21, 34:14); “Azazel (Lev. 16:8, 10 & 26) and “Lilith” (Isa. 34:14-15). These are clearly all manifestations of animals that are but also are not; which is to say, manifestations of the dragon.
On the 3rd of July 2004, I ordained a marriage of a spiritual son, HV. The Lord clearly spoke through various prophets in the Body, noting that it is a marriage that has prophetic implications. I got specific Word from the Lord to open my sermon with the Scripture from Song of Songs 4:12 (Hebrew Names Version): “A locked up garden is my sister, my bride; a locked up spring, a sealed fountain.” With reference to Jer. 2:13 and John 4’s story of the woman at the well, I pointed out that the well of calling and the fountain of purpose of the collective Bride is shut up, locked. Jesus as the fountain of Living Water has been replaced with water spirits, other gods who sit in the temple and pretend to be God (2Thess. 2:4). This is the spirit of the dragon, the spirit of the antichrist, the one who positions himself in the place of Christ. For this reason, so many believers refer to God as “my Baal,” instead of “my Husband” (Hos. 2:16). That which rules the heart will control the thoughts (the mark on the forehead), and one’s actions (the mark on the hand), as Rev. 14:9 and 20:4 refers to it. The mark of the animal is firstly a spiritual marker of the spirit that lives within the “inner garden” of our hearts. Therefore then Ps. 74:3-4 (KJV) notes: “Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary. Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.” But in this Psalm Asaph is given the prophetic assurance that “You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. You broke open the fountain and the flood …” (Ps. 74:13-15a).
The time has come for God to open the ancient wells. The prophetic time of Zech. 13:1-2 has arrived: “In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness. ‘It shall be in that day,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no longer be remembered. I will also cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to depart from the land.’”
Because of all types of exposure, also because the Bride is sometimes without foundations, or is rudderless because of foundations that have been overturned (Ps. 11:3), or based on a lack of discernment, the temples are taken over and all kinds of evil insignia is written on the walls, Ps. 74 notes. It should not be a surprise that there is suddenly a host of films, digital games and television series where witches, werewolves and vampires are prominent. Think about how an entire generation of Benjamins walk into the water with open eyes, heeding the call of the spirit of Virginia Woolf. Zandile. We have to break the cycle. These spirits are aimed at the destruction of God’s descendants.
What must believers do with this personal testimony? A few summarizing remarks:
- Do not take anything at face value. As spiritual person, you need to judge everything in terms of its spiritual significance (1Cor. 2:15). The natural precedes the spiritual (1 Cor. 15:46). You can discern through the Spirit of God, as 1 Cor. 2:14 notes: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Consistently ask for discernment and wisdom, which God always grants (James 1:5).
- Believe what you hear from God. Guard against constantly seeking confirmation. Hear and do.
- Realise that Prov. 25:2 (GNB) spells out God’s way of doing things: “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.” If I didn’t feel like praying through the first SMS that GM sent me, if I didn’t follow up on the clues and carefully noted down the different elements of the puzzle as it started unfolding, if I didn’t seek things out as the Spirit led me, I would not have this revelation. The kingdom of God must be actively sought out.
- God can use anything to speak to you. The earth and the fullness thereof belongs to the Lord, and He can use its entire register to speak to you. Move away from “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle”. as it often has its basis in a “self-imposed religion” that serves nothing (Col. 2:20-23).
- If you’ve made the choice of standing in your calling, be vigilant. The enemy will do everything he can to render you frustrated. God’s prophetic word is secure; do not despise the day of small beginnings (Zech. 4:10). There is a hunger for spiritual power and authority which has people take shortcuts, and moving through doors that God has not opened for you. Consistently get strategy about the unfolding of your calling, but eagerly work towards the realization of your purpose.
- Your choice of walking in your purpose is a matter of life and death. Guard against speaking against it in dispirited times. Never question God’s role in all of this. Praise Him in all circumstances (1 Thess. 5:18), even if you do not understand what is going on. HE CANNOT BE UNFAITHFUL! (2 Tim. 2:13). His plans are ALWAYS in your best interest, to give you a hopeful future (Jer. 29:11). Remember Prov. 21:1: “The king’s heart isin the hand of the Lord like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
- Realise that the spirit of Elijah (Luke 1:17) does three things and be positioned and prepared for it to be realized in your life: “He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, [1] ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and [2] the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, [3] to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Ensure [1] that you have been reconciled with your physical parents and that you walk in unity with your spiritual father (you also stand in the gates to protect him), also that you become sufficiently involved in the lives of others that they ask you to be their spiritual father; [2] ensure throughout that you allow the Holy Spirit to show you sin and unrighteousness in your life – acquire the ATTITUDE of a righteous person in all aspects of your life. Allow God to test you and [3] to make sure that you are prepared for your service. Almost all of these elements are concerned with the onslaught on the spirit of Elijah, on the hearts of fathers and sons.
- Guard your heart and all the gates of your body. Get help if there are certain stubborn problems in your life that you can’t seem to get beyond.
- Know that it is a matter of life and death. Jer. 5:6: “Therefore a lion from the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the deserts shall destroy them; a leopard will watch over their cities. Everyone who goes out from there shall be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many; their backslidings have increased.”
In 1 Sam 2:12 and 35 it notes, “Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the Lord … Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.” In some translations “corrupt” is translated as “sons of Belial”, which the ISBE notes means the following: “‘worthlessness’ … accordingly in such phrases as ‘sons of Belial’ (Jdg_20:13; 1 Sam._10:27, etc.), ‘men of Belial’ (1 Sam._30:22; 1 Kings_21:13, etc.) … Afterward, however, ‘Belial’ became a proper name for Satan, or for Antichrist … In this sense Paul used the word in 2 Cor._6:15, ‘What concord hath Christ with Belial?’ … Bousset thinks that Paul’s ‘man of sin’ in 2 Thess._2:3, where some authorities read ‘man of lawlessness,’ is a translation of this term.”
Every believer who is a waterless fountain (2 Pet. 2:17), clouds without water (Jude 1:12), believers who vanquish like a stream in the sand (Job 6:15), who remain a closed fountain (Song of Songs 4:12), eventually automatically manifest the spirit of the antichrist. I suspect that the big battle will be between the Bride and the wolf in the disguise of Christianity. Jer. 14:3: “And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.” With this in mind I am beginning to understand where demons are sent to: to waterless places – Christians who function without the Holy Spirit (Matt. 12:43). This explains why believers often remain in the wilderness for such a long period of their spiritual walk – the term “wilderness” or “desert” means “among the wild beasts”! Make a choice today to be part of the faithful priesthood who walk according to what is in God’s heart and soul.
