Day 238

“Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”

(1 Pet 1:23, NKJV)

In the previous teaching we discussed the search for the revelation of the seed of God, the seed of light which will restore the glory, that which we lost in paradise. Although this seed is not derived from flesh and blood (1 Cor 15:50), it does indeed have an effect on our mortal, fleshly bodies, as 2 Cor 4:11 explains, “the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh”. Clearly it must somehow be linked to the seed through which Mary’s fleshly womb conceived Christ.

Because sin has contaminated the blood of all people, it was imperative for the Redeemer, Jesus to be born from the human bloodline of Adam, but without Adam’s blood. According to the Word, and supported by science, the ability to create life is nestled in the seed or sperm of the man. A woman does not produce seed, but egg cells which are fertilized through a sperm cell. But we have to remember that the seed of the man is clearly transient (“perishing, decayed”, according to 1 Pet 1:23).

In Gen 3:15, just after the fall, God makes this important statement when speaking to Satan – “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed”. Here is explicitly referred to the seed of the woman. The woman’s seed cannot produce anything on its own, but needs the (contaminated) male seed in order to bring forth. This product would thus also be contaminated – “How then can man be righteous before God? Or how can he be pure who is born of a woman?” And yet the distinction is here clearly made between the seed of the man and the seed of the woman. The verse has a prophetic promise, that the seed of the woman (a descendant of Eve’s) will bring forth one who will trample the snake (and his descendants). This brings us to a very important implication – the seed of the woman is NOT contaminated through the fall, only that of the man. For this reason Eve is called the “mother of all living” (Gen 3:20). It is that to which Jer 31:22 (GW) prophetically points – “The LORD will create something new on earth: A woman will protect a man.” (Protect can also be translated as encompass or enclose.)

Gen 3:15, widely acknowledged as the promise to the mother, is the prophetic indicator that from the uncontaminated seed of the woman a person would be born in the “fullness of time” (Gal 4:4), and that He, the “God of Peace” (= the Prince of Peace in Isa 9:6), will “crush Satan under your feet shortly” (Rom 16:20). But this person will be born into the physical line of David. Within this line we find Abraham, the forefather to which God promised a Redeemer. Gal 3:16 (WNT) says: “Now the promises were given to Abraham and to his seed. God did not say “and to seeds” as if speaking of many, but “and to your seed” since He spoke of only one–and this is Christ.”

In the next teaching we will look at this amazing mystery.
