“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19, NKJV)
At times one is confronted with the immense profundity of some of the truths in the Scripture. In the light of what had played out in Luke 10, we had seen that the corporate body is a fundamental principle of the kingdom of God. In the process through which the Bride makes the enemy the footstool of Yahweh, we enjoy a certain level of privilege, akin to the privileges enjoyed by the diplomatic corps in a foreign country, where they cannot be taken in for custody, enjoy top-class protection, and are kept very safe.
Alas we don’t believe it. Satan’s greatest weapon against us is that we believe that he is in control of our lives – our happiness, the progress we make in life, etc. That he is constantly busy attacking us, that we are his prey, and that he manages to again and again sabotage our lives, and cause damage to our beings. How often don’t we lament how we’re under attack from Satan?
Just before Yeshua ascended, He made it undeniably clear – “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” (Matt 28:18). Everything is in his hand (John 3:35). He is in heaven, at the right hand of God, and all angels and powers and principalities are subject to Him (1 Pet 3:22).
In his prayer in the garden of Gethsemane Yeshua prays over his disciples – “As you sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18). And then, a few verses later, He prays for us – “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent me.” (verses 20-21). Long ago Daniel had prophesied that this would be the case – “But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, and forever and ever.” (7:18). In verse 27 it is stated even more explicitly – “Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.”
Back to the initial Scripture – as Yeshua gave it to his disciples, he gave it to every other believer – we can step on snakes and scorpions (=Evil); we have authority over ALL the power of the enemy; and NOTHING will harm us. Sela.
Your name (=identity) and your authority is written in the heavens (= the spiritual realm), according to Luke 10:20, so that the ekklesia can demonstrate the manifold wisdom of God to the demonic powers and principalities (Eph 3:10)!
The reality of the new covenant is this – “For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.” (Col 3:3, LITV). In John 10:28 Yeshua states that no one will pluck you from his hand. In the following verse he corrects the statement He just made – No one can pluck you from his hand. Provided you stay in Him.
