Day 492

“let him who stole steal no longer”

(Eph 4:27, NKJV)

In one of the previous teachings we noted the Scripture from 2 Sam 11, and the specific typology of verse 1. The CEV-translation describes it as follows – “It was now spring, the time when kings go to war. David sent out the whole Israelite army under the command of Joab and his officers. They destroyed the Ammonite army and surrounded the capital city of Rabbah, but David stayed in Jerusalem.”

Before we look at this section it is important to again be reminded of a few of the realities concerning Satan which we have discussed thus far –

  • We did not receive a spirit of slavery.
  • We have been freed from the spirit of death, the primary agent which causes spiritual slavery, and this means we need to fully understand what Yahweh gave us through the crucifixion of His Son.
  • When Yahshua died on the cross, the power that sin has over man was taken away, and death was dealt with.
  • The believer’s warfare has ended, and Evil has no claim on him.
  • In the new covenant the devil is a dragon, an animal that is and is not – he is made manifest through our fear and our verbal acknowledgment.
  • At the cross Yahweh forcefully took back the authority and power which Satan had wanted for himself, and gave this to the Bride and the five-fold ministry. Yahshua has taken captive all those spirits which kept us captive. The veil which Satan had placed over humanity was thus destroyed.
  • In Christ we got the power to step on the devil and his demons; we have power over all the enemy’s power; they have no authority over us, and can never harm us.
  • All the demonic principalities will honour and obey us.
  • Nothing can snatch you from Yahweh’s hand, provided you live in Him. Your life is hidden in Christ.
  • The only way in which Satan can influence your life, is by misleading you about his power and authority in you and your life world.
  • Satan can only work through the “old man”, who is already nailed to the cross, and an imagined reality.
  • Satan’s names reveal that he can only speak – this becomes a very important key in your understanding of your position of authority in Christ.

Back to David, a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22) – prototypically read, David was a king, thus in a position which entailed power and authority (Rev 5:10). It was a position in which he needed spiritual discernment (Heb 5:14), and wise insight into times and seasons (like the sons of Issachar) (1 Chr 12:32). But here David was not in position, and thus Satan had the opportunity to lead him into temptation. Let him who stole steal no longer.

  • Sela: Where in your life are you giving Satan leeway?
  • Read: 2 Sam 16-18
  • Examine how this has been fulfilled: 2 Sam 16:5-14. (Tip: Isa 57:15; Rom 12:16; Ps 34:18).
  • For a deeper understanding: Read John Bevere’s Enemy access denied.
