“You are gods [since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives]” (Ps. 82:6a, Ampl.)
One element became very clear in the previous teaching: The Apocalips is about Jesus Christ manifesting in his Body – we are “the body of Christ, and members individually” (1 Cor 12:27). Therefore, states Heb. 10:5 (LITV), Jesus said to God before He came to earth, – “You prepared a body for Me.” Remember Col. 3:4 – “When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory”.
Therefore it is not strange that Asaph prophesies about the sons of God in Ps. 82:6, calling them “gods”! Even Jesus re-affirms this twice in John 10:34-35 (NASB): “Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS’?” [The red is, according to the way in which the translation uses it, is Jesus’ direct words. See Tom Davis’ Red Letters: Living a Faith that Bleeds.] The word that is here used for gods, is the Hebrew word Elohim, which is the first Name with which God introduces Himself in Gen. 1:1. (Even in Gen. 1:1 the term Elohim is plural, something which has immense implications and to which we will return to at a later stage.) The Amplified translates the first part of Ps. 82:6 as follows: “I said, You are gods [since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives] …”
With this authorisation God entrusts to the Bride of the Lamb the greatest task – to reconcile ALL THINGS to Him. Also, ALL THINGS must be placed at the feet of our Head, Jesus. This then includes all the grotesque things which are mentioned in the book of Revelation: the false prophet, the beast, the devil, death, and the realm of the dead. This is done through their manifestation as the lake of fire and brimstone, as righteous judges.
We did not discuss in detail what the meaning of the prophet and the beast could be, as this is not the focus of the current series of teachings, but regardless of what their meaning is – they too shall be consumed by the lake of fire and brimstone. Within this argument which has now been spanning a number of different teachings, the Bride is presented as the manifestation of the lake of fire and brimstone. According to Eph. 1:21 “far above all principality and power and might and dominion”, which is subjected to “His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (verse 23). As this revelation about the Christ will develop to its glorious consequences, the life, characteristic nature, power, authority and so much more, of Jesus Christ will be apokalupo’d in his Christ; will be unveiled, revealed. The fire of His expansion within the Bride will become a furnace of righteousness (in Mal. 3:1-3) for EVERYTHING. How Rom. 16:20 will happen, is however the pressing question.
