BIBLICAL BRIEFS 110
There are Charismatic ministers of the Word, such as Arthur Burke, who emphasize the consequences you may experience if someone is jealous of you. He tells many stories of jealousy in ministries, between relatives, and how it had extremely negative consequences for the people involved. He also places great emphasis on curses and iniquities resulting from this spirit and by means of soul prayers and actions then being “transferred” to believers. I radically disagree with this point of view. There are always people who are jealous of you; who are envious of your belongings, or your knowledge, or your physical strength, or your beauty (skin/hair/calves), or your children, or your circumstances, or your good life, or the amount of push-ups you can do in the gym, or the spiritual revelation you receive. The list is never ending. As long as you are in position in Christ, others’ jealousy can cause you NO harm. There is not an invisible sword of jealousy that hangs over your head waiting to decapitate you, who-knows-when, no. In Christ, the spirit of jealousy (Num. 5:14) cannot do anything to you; it’s as Solomon says in Prov. 26: 2 (ESV): “a curse that is causeless does not alight”.
