Day 65

“Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne…” (Rev 4:5, NKJ)

In the spiritual realm mystery exists regarding the concepts of multiplicity and oneness. The Bible states categorically that “the Lord is One” (Deut 6:4). Yet we confess that the One manifests as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. But remember: They are One! (John 17:11, 21-22). Husband and wife become one flesh, says Paul in Eph 5:31 – he calls it a “great mystery”. The same principle is also applicable regarding the Holy Spirit. Eph 4:4 states clearly that there is only “one Spirit”, but in the book of Revelation the seven Spirits of God are mentioned three times.

The menorah’s seven lights are clearly a prototype of the seven-fold Spirit of God in the believer. If God sits on His throne in your life due to your rebirth, then, according to Rev 1:4 and 4:5, the seven Spirits of God are before His throne. They are also sent out “into all the earth” (Rev 5:6). In this Scripture and in Zech 4:10 they are also called the “seven eyes” of the Lamb, Christ.

Thus the golden Lam(b)stand is a clear pointer to Christ as the Anointed One (Acts 4:27), from whom the anointing and light of the Holy Spirit come. It is beautifully explained by the prophetic word about Jesus in Is 11:2 (my numbering): “(1) The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, (2) the Spirit of wisdom and (3) understanding, (4) the Spirit of counsel and (5) might, (6) the Spirit of knowledge and (7) of the fear of the Lord”. The Spirit of the Lord is the middle stem of the menorah from which all things sprout; the six other Spirits are thus the six arms of the candlestick.

Each of these Spirits is thus in you to bring about the holy character of Christ in you. When Jesus introduced Himself to mankind He did so in precisely these terms of the golden lampstand: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings …” (Is 61:1).

If this Menorah, Christ, burns in you and emits light and anointing, then 1 John 2:27 becomes the cradle of your spirit-man functioning: “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” Practice His Presence!

  • Sela: What would the meaning of the Spirits as “eyes” be?
  • Read: Ex 15; Ps 65; Rom 7
  • Memorise: Learn the song of Moses in Ex 15; make your own song of it because you will definitely sing it again (Rev 15:3).
